Lost Time at the Seaside

John Carlson, host of The Paranormalist online, had a reader share their Lost Time TWIDDER.  The reader experienced this spacetime slip with a co-worker.

I had a strange incident about 10 years ago:  I was at the seaside and taking a walk along the seafront with a friend.  We knew what time we had set off because we were on a break from some chef work we were doing at the time.

We stopped to look at some tiny silver fish which were catching the light, wondering what they were, as they just looked like silver glitter in the sea.th

After watching them for what could have only been a maximum five minutes we continued walking.  Very shortly after my friend checked her watch and we were both shocked to find that it was about an hour and a half later than it should have been.

We are both convinced that we lost an hour, though without any apparent reason for it.  The friend in question is a devout Christian, and as we were working on a Christian camp and she was having a spiritually intense couple of weeks she attributes it to that.  As an agnostic I have no idea!

This is reminiscent of Joan Forman’s theory that time slips may be triggered by some kind of silvery stimulus.

Carl, I don’t know of Joan Forman or the silvery stimulus theory. You’ve just opened up a whole new world of study to me! Thank you SO MUCH for so kindly sharing your expertise, you’ve made my day!

  3. Carl Grove says:

It’s from her book, The Mask of Time (1978). On the basis of a very small sample, she suggested that a silvery light could be a trigger factor (actually, only one case clearly implied this, where a witness saw a past scene after seeing the light reflect off mugs carried by three children.) I haven’t come across any other instances. You might be able to get a 2nd hand copy of her book through abeBooks.

Again, thanks! I shall follow up on this lead.
